Thousands Of Food Delivery Drivers Will Be Striking On Valentine’s Day

Say goodbye to your Valentine’s Day plans.

If you were hoping for a quiet romantic night in this Valentine’s Day you can think again— as thousands of delivery drivers have just announced that they’ll be striking which means your night is probably not going to go as planned.

Clearly, this is not a good time to be in a situationship if you and your sneaky link are not at the restaurant stage and thought ordering a Domino’s at home would be a good idea.

Which drivers will be on strike?

Drivers for both Deliveroo and Uber Eats will be striking tomorrow on the 14th of February between 5-10pm, so you might want to opt for a Valentine’s Day breakfast instead.

It’s worth noting that this doesn’t mean you can’t order a takeaway tomorrow evening as not every driver will be participating but you can assume that if you do make an order you’ll be facing long delays and potential cancellations if there are no riders available to pick up your order.

So, what can you do?

Well, the drivers are striking over unfair pay and poor working conditions so while we stand with them it’s probably best to avoid ordering a takeaway tomorrow night or rearrange your plans to order earlier. If all that fails it’s always worth seeing what restaurants still have reservations available.

If this is going to cause a disruption to your cosy night in, you can always celebrate tonight as after all Valentine’s Day is just a day it doesn’t really matter.

Here are some of our best deals if you’re planning on ordering food ahead of the strike or going out instead of staying in:
