Student Beans’ Best University Guide: London School Of Economics

Everything you need to know about the London School of Economics.

One of London’s many universities, the London School of Economics and Political Science sits high on the UK university rankings in 2022.

There’s a high percentage of students getting top marks and the graduate prospects are comfortingly high. But, despite its high ranking on the league tables, the university’s satisfaction rates are only just above the UK averages.

Vibe Check

Let’s break down some key notes around LSOE’s vibe:

Student satisfaction

London School of Economics’ satisfaction rates sit just above the national averages. The university has a 80.1% course satisfaction (national average is 78.5%), and the teaching satisfaction rate sits at 83.1%, compared to a national average of 81.6%.

You can also expect a tailored university education at the LSE, with a student to staff ratio of 1:12.4. This doesn’t sound great, but some universities have to share one lecturer between over 20 students.

Future prospects

These outcomes made London School of Economics the university with the second largest percentage of first-class degrees in 2021.

After graduating with top marks, 93% of LSE graduates bag themselves a career within 15 months. This is well over the national average of 78% and matches Oxford and Cambridge’s 93% career success rates.
