Tinder has introduced “Tinder Uni” — a feature on the Tinder app that allows you to exclusively find and date students. It’s also known simply as “Tinder U” in the US.
And who says you have to necessarily date, right? According to the Tinder Newsroom, the feature makes it miles easier to connect with students around you, by ensuring your profiles are first during your swiping sesh.
Need someone to study with? Get a coffee? Are you simply wanting to make friends? Tinder Uni just might be the thing that’s been missing in your life, especially if you’ve been feeling the effects of loneliness at university.
How does Tinder Uni work exactly?
Tinder Uni’s goal is simple — it’s helping students, like you, connect with other students around you. When you enrol in Tinder Uni, your Tinder app will recommend more students in and around your university campus.
Plus, if you’re in a city with multiple unis and colleges, they’ll likely come up on your Explore page too.
Why is Tinder Uni a thing?
University is a place where many romances begin and blossom.
But with many people catfishing (including lying about their age), it’s made Tinder double down on security, by offering an ID verification step to keep users safe. We can see the appeal of Tinder Uni taking this to the next level, by safeguarding students against matches who may otherwise pose as fellow peers.
How do I enrol in Tinder Uni?
You’ll need a Tinder profile to enrol at Tinder Uni. It’s as simple as downloading the Tinder app and following the on-screen instructions to make an account.
To enrol at Tinder Uni, simply:
- Open Tinder and tap the profile icon
- Go to “Edit Profile”
- Scroll down to “School” to add your school info
- Tap on the option to “Apply for Tinder Uni”
- Enter and verify your student email address (typically an ac.uk email address).
Where is Tinder Uni available?
Tinder Uni is for undergraduate students, at select 4-year, accredited, not-for-profit schools in the US and UK. Schools must deliver courses in a traditional, face-to-face learning format, in order to show up on results.
