TikTok is pretty good at influencing when it comes to fashion. With celebs, YouTubers and influencers alike using the platform, certain trends seem to spread and before you know it everyone is wearing them.
2021 was the year of chunky clay rings, Crocs, baggy jeans, 70s prints and the resurgence of tennis skirts. But what’s next? Here’s what will be trending in 2022 thanks to recent TikTok trends.
1. Ballet pumps
Ok hear us out, ballet pumps were the height of fashion in the 2010s and while many people can’t think of anything else returning, they’ve already been seen all over TikTok. Ballet influenced fashion including leotards, leggings, and the iconic ballet pumps will be trending in 2022 influenced by celebs such as Lily Rose Depp. You might hate the idea, but you’ll be seeing a LOT more of them, so you might want to keep an eye out.

2. More Y2K
If you love y2K fashion you’re in luck as it’s not going anywhere. As more and more jean styles become low waisted again, other y2k trends that have been creeping around recently include baggy wide-leg cargo pants, tiny mini skirts, butterfly prints, low rise midi skirts paired with tight crop tops and the resurgence in popularity of Juicy Couture which now stocks it’s iconic 2000s tracksuits again.

Brands like I Am Gia have been selling tops and dresses with major cut-outs, and several TikTokers have been demonstrating how you can wear a pair of tights as a top and simply just cut holes in it for an effortless edgy look. However, more mainstream brands are also jumping on this trend with cut out sleeves and random holes in dresses and tops becoming more and more popular.

4. Platforms
Platforms have been around for a while, but chunky, chunky platforms are really making a comeback and are set to dominate 2022. Many celebs such as Ariana Grande have opted for a chunkier heel as opposed to a classic stiletto and the popularity of brands such as Naked Wolfe has really cemented the popularity of chunky platform boots as a wardrobe staple.

5. UGGs
Ok, hear us out again. If you used to be addicted to your UGG boots you’ll either love or hate the fact that they’re having a moment. However, thanks to the likes of Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber, UGGs are suddenly trending again. This time, it’s a very specific silhouette, the mini UGG, a super cropped version of the classic boot. The Pantone colour of the year 2022 is Very Peri, a violet tone which means you can probably expect to see a LOT of it in 2022.
