10 Worst & Unsafe TikTok Beauty Hacks To Avoid

Save your skin. Avoid these TikTok beauty hacks.

We love a good TikTok beauty hack. It’s how we found that Charlotte Tilbury Concealer dupe, plus the hacks we find can save us minutes if not hours in the day.

Some hacks we’ve found are just downright ridiculous (if not dangerous). Here are 10 beauty TikTok hacks to avoid.

Blow-drying your lashes

Imagine blowing a direct flow of air into your eyes to curl your lashes.

We think this takes “beauty hurts†way too far. In fact, this can cause some pretty bad dryness which quite frankly, isn’t good. You only get one set of eyeballs in your lifetime. Treat them well.

Lubricant as a primer

We talked about people using sexual lubricant as a primer. If you don’t mind a few clogged pores for the sake of smooth foundation then go for it, but if you’re acne-prone, we highly recommend swerving this.

Using aspirin on pimples

While not as threatening as the others on this list (though it can irritate your skin), it’s still not a hack that’ll cure acne. Any videos that claim to cure acne within minutes, hours or days is simply a lie. We said what we said.

Full face waxing

We’re advocates for doing what you want with your body hair. But when it gets to an extreme like the TikTok below, you’re asking for ingrown hairs and some serious skin irritation. Not to mention the skin of your face, especially around your eyes, is incredibly sensitive.

Filing your teeth

For every person that watches one of these, a dentist cries.

Sunscreen contouring

This can literally increase your risk of skin cancer. Absolutely avoid at all costs.

Slugging

A Korean beauty trend that involves “slugging†your face in vaseline to retain your nighttime beauty products and moisture.

Now, this isn’t necessarily “badâ€, and could even help those with dry skin. But we absolutely recommend avoiding this if you have oily-prone skin as it can cause enlarged pores.

DIY microneedling

Rolling rows of needles into your face should really only be done by a trained aesthetician.

Doing this yourself can cause redness, permanent scarring and nasty scabs. Avoid.

Homemade facials

While it might be fun to create your own concoctions of face masks, they may do your skin more harm than good. So put down the coffee granules before you cause any trauma to the outer layer of your skin and invest in a quality exfoliant.

Pore vacuums

Pore vacuums can cause serious trauma to your skin, pores and can even break your capillaries over time. This can leave you with blotchy red skin, which is not a lewk.
