You Can Get Paid To Do Your Washing By Doing This One Thing

If you need some motivation to get your laundry done this is it.

In a bid to help during the cost of living crisis, a new scheme has been announced to help households earn some money by doing one simple thing.

If you want to save some money on your energy bills, you could get paid to do your washing or use other household appliances at night time, rather than during the day. By using your washing machine during off-peak hours you’ll be able to save gas and electricity supplies this winter and earn some money back at the same time.

The National Grid Electricity System Operator (ESO) announced this scheme after warning that people may have to face planned three-hour blackouts if gas supplies run low, so want to encourage people to use their household appliances outside of high demand times by giving them money back on their bills.

So, if you like to run your washing machine in the afternoons before a night out, you may want to hold off until after you get home. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean having to do your washing at 4 am as off-peak is generally considered after 7 pm, so you could still get your laundry done before you go to bed.

This new scheme is expected to run between November to March and energy suppliers are expected to announce to their customers how they can take part to claim money back off their bills. Ovo energy is a supplier that has already confirmed their participation in this scheme, announcing that customers could get up to £100 back by shifting their energy usage to off-peak times, outside of the busy 4-7 pm window.

For those with other energy suppliers, it’s best to keep an eye out as other suppliers are expected to announce their participation in this scheme in the coming weeks, so it’s definitely worth signing up if your supplier is getting involved.
