The Top Craziest Moments From Tiger King Season 1 That Have Us Hyped For Season 2

Netflix has officially announced that Tiger King season 2 is on the way!

When Tiger King first dropped on Netflix all the way back during the first lockdown, we were all sucked into the drama and the memes that came with it.

But, it doesn’t stop there as Netflix has officially announced that the second season is on the way and will be landing on November 17th after dropping a quick sneak peek of what’s to come.

If you can’t wait for season 2 to drop, we’ve picked out our top craziest moments from season 1 to help refresh your memory and get you hyped for the new season.

1. The accusation against Carol Baskin

Tiger King was pretty wild from start to finish, but then we find out that Carol Baskin may have killed her husband and fed him to tigers. Yep, her multi-millionaire husband suspiciously disappeared in 1997 leading many people to believe that she was involved, which of course she denies. A body was never found, so who knows if the theory is true but maybe we’ll find out more in season 2.

2. The office fire

A suspicious office fire breaks out and kills 7 alligators. Many people believe that Joe Exotic started the fire, although it’s questionable if he would put his own animals in danger. However, the office fire also wiped out camera equipment and footage of Joe and his zoo, which was being made into a documentary by Rick Kirkham. It’s likely there were some things that Joe Exotic didn’t want getting out, so maybe the fire wasn’t a mystery after all.

3. When Joe campaigned for president

Yep, Joe Exotic ran for president of the United States back in 2016 and led an outlandish campaign. According to his campaign manager, he probably wasn’t serious but did want the publicity to help get his name out there. His campaign included customized condoms and t-shirts, and he showed up everywhere to grow his fanbase.

4. The music videos

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any wilder, Joe Exotic’s crazy music videos are arguably one of the most memorable things from Tiger King season 1. The low-budget and self-produced videos show him taunting his rival Carol Baskin, with one even going as far as to have a Carol Baskin lookalike feeding what is presumed to be her dead husband to the tigers.

5. Doc Antle’s cult

In a more disturbing revelation, we find out that Doc Antle is a legit cult leader (and for some reason, this is only touched upon and not even full elaborated). He’s a former zoo employee, who’s many girlfriends work for him and have to sleep with him to work their way up. The girlfriends, who are young women are given fake names and are made to work long hours. Many of the former girlfriends gave interviews during season 1 which revealed just how creepy the cult was. Hopefully, we find out more in season 2 because there’s definitely a lot that isn’t being shared.

6. Joe’s husbands

Joe Exotic has two husbands, John Finlay and Travis Maldonado. Both men claim to be straight and have been lured into the relationship in exchange for drugs and money. While Joe might seem 100% into the marriages, it’s clear that his two husbands are not and there’s definitely more to the story.

7. Travis’ death

In a scene that was actually really upsetting, Joe’s younger husband Travis shoots himself in the head, which may have been accidental. What’s worse is we get to see the whole thing captured by CCTV footage and witness Joe Exotic spiral after his death.

8. Joe’s prison sentence

Towards the end of the series, we see Joe Exotic fleeing the zoo and get arrested for attempting to kill Carol Baskin (literally, another crazy moment). His plan was to murder her, but when he was arrested he was also found guilty of animal abuse and violating several other wildlife laws. He was arrested in 2019 and served a 22-year sentence, however, he is set to be resentenced so his release date could definitely be brought forward.

With Joe Exotic in prison and so many unanswered questions from season 1, we can’t wait to get stuck into season 2 (which we’re sure will bring even more unanswered questions, and crazy moments). Tiger King season 2 will be streaming from November 17th, so make sure to save the date to binge-watch it in one go!
