Scottish Universities Are Offering Students £1,000s To Study There

Dubbed “a clearing campaign like no other”, universities in Scotland will actually pay students in the rest of the UK to attend their universities.
There are many financial incentives to help offset the increased cost of living via scholarships, bursaries and more. Let’s dive into how it all works.
Get paid to study at Scottish universities
If you’re based in England, Wales or Northern Island, you can get paid to study in Scotland as soon as this September.
As most of us know, England, Wales and Northern Island charge tuition fees of roughly £9,250 per year of study.
Scotland, however, does not charge tuition fees. As a result, student places are capped to accommodate.
Where can I get paid to study?
The Scottish unis you could get paid to study include Heriot-Watt, Strathclyde, Edinburgh Napier and Dundee.
Heriot-Watt is offering a £1,500 bursary to RUK (rest of UK) students, to help pay for transportation costs.
Dundee is offering an “Academic Excellence” scholarship to RUK students with grades of AAB or above awarded at A-level. This scholarship is worth £3,000 per year of study. They’re also offering a bursary of £2,000, paid in two instalments, in the first year.
The University of Aberdeen is offering a “merit scholarship” worth £5,000 to RUK students with A-level grades of AAA, and £3,000 to those awarded with AAB or ABB.
Strathclyde is offering £1,200 for RUK students who achieve AAB, plus a one-off £1000 accommodation bursary for RUK students paying £9,250 fees.
Finally, Edinburgh Napier University is promoting its merit scholarship of £1,000 per year for RUK students with BBB or above at A-level. They also offer access bursaries for students from lower-income households.
What can I study?
According to UCAS, there are over 30,000 courses combined, meaning you’ll have tons of choices and be eligible for scholarships, depending on which grades you achieve, for whichever course you wish to study.
