How To Respond To Receiving An Unsolicited Dick Pic

With 64% of students saying they’ve been on the receiving end of an unsolicited dick pic, we’re dishing out advice on what to do if it happens to you.

Unsolicited dick pics. Nobody wants ‘em.

So, why exactly are men still sending unsuspecting individuals pictures of their member? Who knows. But unfortunately it’s no surprise that in our latest Sex ‘N Education survey we found when we asked 3457 students aged 16-24 whether they’d received an unsolicited dick pic a whopping 64% said yes and furthermore, 74% of those that answered yes were female.

But what should you do if you receive an unsolicited dick pic?

1. TELL IT LIKE IT IS

Let them know how grim it is to receive a message like this. It’s unacceptable, gross and you are totally allowed to vocalise that and how it made you feel.

2. REPORT AND BLOCK

If it’s over social media make sure you report the account that sent you the pic. Sexual harassment will be against any website’s policy, so make sure you report the person who is making your feel (to put it lightly) uncomfortable and there’s a chance their account might get suspended or even deleted entirely.

3. SPEAK TO SOMEONE

Getting harassed by someone is never ok and even if this kind of thing is somewhat common, it doesn’t mean it affects you any less. Make sure you speak to someone, maybe a friend or a counsellor, if you’re feeling shaken from the incident.

4. SEND ONE BACK

Go on the internet and find a horrible picture to send back, if they’re not respecting your boundaries by sending you a dick pic then you can show them exactly how it feels to receive one back. Thank you, bye.

5. STRING THEM ALONG

This response has us howling.

This morning I received an unsolicited dick pic via @instagram from a man I do not know. What follows is a beautiful story I wove about an app I made up, that should exist. Enjoy! pic.twitter.com/7O9VDpwPct

6. DELETE

No matter how you respond to a receiving an unsolicited dick pic, make sure you block, report and finally delete the pic. Hopefully by completely removing this person from your life and phone will help you move on.
