Here Are The Best Unis To Visit Around The Country Once Freshers’ Is Over

Add these unis to your travel bucket list!

Moving away from home for the first time to somewhere new is your free pass to break out of your comfort zone and to explore outside of your home town or city.

If you have railcard (which you can get a student discount on by the way!) not only is travelling around the UK cheaper and more accessible but it’s also a great excuse to get out there and visit somewhere new for a day trip or weekend break.

So, if you’re looking for a fun way to spend a weekend exploring here are some of the UK unis you should visit once the madness of freshers’ has died down.

1. University of Cambridge

Cambridge boasts some impressively beautiful buildings across its colleges and city. Not only is it a beautiful city, but there’s also plenty of history to explore too from museums to the impressive library buildings.

2. University of Glasgow

Glasgow is home to stunning architecture and history but there’s also plenty to do in the city itself away from the university. Not only are there some really scenic locations that make a great photo op, but the food and drinks scene will also satisfy any foodie.

3. Queen’s University Belfast

Queen’s University was founded in 1849 and is considered one of the UK’s top 10 oldest universities. The buildings are not only beautiful to look at, but you’ll also be able to appreciate the history too.

4. University of Oxford

Like its rival Cambridge, Oxford University is home to some pretty impressive buildings and history. Scenes during the early Harry Potter films were actually filmed in one of Oxford’s colleges, so a visit to the filming locations is a must for any superfan.

5. University of Greenwich

Greenwich’s college buildings have become a popular filming location for some big-budget films, including Thor: The Dark World, Les Misérables, The Dark Knight Rises, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Skyfall, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadow to name just a select few. If you fancy a trip to see these filming locations, Greenwich also has a great food and drinks scene too.

So, if you’re planning a day trip away from your own university campus, why not add one of these to your list?
