Now that Halloween and Bonfire Night have been and gone, it’s time to start getting ready for Christmas!

It can be difficult to make your space festive in student accommodation if you can’t pin or stick things to your walls or don’t have room for a Christmas tree, but hopefully these ideas can help you bring some Christmas spirit to your room.

1. Downsize your tree

One solution to not being able to fit a Christmas tree in your room is to have one in your communal space. However, sometimes your flatmates might not be up for that, or you might still want one in your own room, so that’s where downsizing comes into play.

You can buy little 2 or 3ft Christmas trees, or even smaller ones, from places like Argos and Wilko. These tabletop trees and tree ornaments can sit beautifully on your desk or table and give you that Christmas feeling without taking up lots of space in your room.

You can even get tall, thin trees to fit in tight little spaces, or half-flocked trees to give you the look of a full-sized tree without it stretching all the way out into the middle of your room!

2. You CAN attach things to your wall…

Most people will know about this trick already; it’s a well-known one but a fool-proof one! But just in case you forgot, here’s a reminder.

Command strips and hooks are the holy grail when it comes to attaching things to your walls without damaging them and risking losing your deposit!

They are so simple to use, with no need for any tools or holes in your walls, and they can be removed cleanly without taking any paint off your walls.

So grab yourself some hooks or strips with this discount and throw up as much tinsel and Christmas lights as you like!

3. Festive pictures

Make use of the cork-boards that are in most university bedrooms and communal areas, and decorate them with festive pictures or photos. Or, alternatively, use some mini clothes pegs to attach them to your fairy lights.

You can include photos of your family and friends from previous Christmasses, or print some aesthetically pleasing festive images that bring you warmth off the internet.

You could even buy some Christmassy prints and frame them for a more sophisticated look.

4. Cozy into Christmas

Surround yourself with the Christmas spirit with festive bed sheets, cushions, and blankets.

Fancy bedding is definitely a luxury for students, but what better time to treat yourself than Christmas; the perfect time to be snuggled up in duvets and blankets.

You can even go the extra mile and find yourself some Christmas pyjamas and fluffy socks to get the full cosy experience.

5. Christmas lights

Lights are an essential part of Christmas decorations and take the festive vibe to the next level.

You can have a more traditional festive look with warm, white lights, or a more retro Christmas style with coloured lights.

Or you could create an extra cosy atmosphere with Govee lights, with one of their effects that mimics the look of a flickering fireplace, along with the crackling fire sound.

Now you’ve got some new ideas to make your uni room as festive as it can be this Christmas time without breaking the bank, so get out there and get your festive on!
