Black-Owned Businesses to Support This Black History Month

Add these businesses to your wish list!

October is Black History Month in the UK. While there are plenty of ways you can educate yourself and raise awareness towards the injustices that Black people face, if you want to support the Black community directly, one of the best ways is shopping from Black-owned businesses.

Here are some of our fave UK based Black-owned businesses for you to check out this Black history month!

1. Tribal Unicorn

Tribal Unicorn was founded by Angelica Louise in London, who creates organic and ethically made and unique candles. The website states “My candles, handmade in London, will remind you of the pineapple and jerk vibes from Notting Hill Carnival to that candle-lit hip hop yoga class in Shoreditch” and you can find everything from wax melts to reed diffusers to brighten up your room.

2. Prick

Prick is a boutique plant shop based in London (although you can order online too!) selling cacti and succulents. You can find plants, plant pots and everything you need to transform your uni room into your own plant paradise.

3. Bea Skincare

Bianca Estelle is a Harley Street trained aesthetician who founded Bea Skincare in 2015, to bring you signature skincare for everyday use and all skin types.

4. The Glowcery

Founded by Roshanne Dorsett, The Glowcery brings you organic and natural skincare made from superfoods. The Glowcery is vegan, cruelty-free and natural with eco-friendly packaging, and sustainably sourced ingredients, with a belief that what you put on your body should be as nutritious as what you put into it.

5. Candour Beauty

Candour Beauty stocks products across skincare, haircare and makeup with products specially formulated for women of colour.

So, if you’re looking for an alternative to unsustainable big brands and want to support independent businesses, don’t forget to check all of these brands out and treat yourself to somethingnew.
