Are You Ready To Commit To A Serious Relationship?

Thinking about taking things to the next level? Here’s what you need to know.

Getting into a new relationship can be fun and exciting but it’s also a big decision. A successful relationship depends on good communication between both people, so if you’re considering getting into one you need to make sure you’re sure about it.

Here’s how you know if you’re ready to commit.

You know what you want

Feelings can be confusing. Some people want to date casually, some are happy staying single and others know they want a relationship. If you’re having any doubts over what you want, then you’re probably not ready to commit to a serious relationship. If you know that you want a relationship and you’re willing to put the work in no matter what, you know what your expectations are for it and how you want to be treated then chances are you’re probably ready.

You don’t feel pressured

Sometimes it can feel like the entire world is in a happy relationship when you’re not. There’s definitely the chance that you might be feeling some pressure to settle down and get into something serious if you’re the only single one out of all of your friends, or your parents are nagging you about it. However, you have your entire life ahead of you and if you’re not ready to commit to someone yet, you’re not ready. The decision to get into a serious relationship should be yours and yours only, maybe you’ve even found someone who wants to make it official and you like them but you’re not quite there yet but at the end of the day it comes down to you and what you feel ready for.

You’re willing to make time for it

Relationships require commitment and effort from both parties. Even if you both have super busy lives, if you want the relationship to work you need to be able to put time aside for your relationship and make time for dates and quality time. If you don’t think you’ll be able to do this then you’re probably not ready to commit to a serious relationship just yet. There’s nothing wrong with prioritising your career, hobbies or social life over a relationship but if you think you can balance both and give both equal time and attention then you’re probably ready.

You know what you want from your relationship

Ok, so you know you want to be in a relationship but the sure sign you’re ready for one is you know exactly what you want from a relationship and what you don’t want. If you’ve found a person who ticks all the relationship boxes for you and you think they’d be a good partner and fulfil your needs in a relationship then absolutely go for it.
