Here Are 6 Scholarship Opportunities Just For AAPI Students

The month of May marks the beginning of Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, which has grown in prominence over the past few years thanks to campaigns like #StopAAPIHate. There are now more opportunities than ever for AAPI voices to be heard.

Academia is a space where the AAPI community is continuing to grow, thanks in part to many new scholarships becoming available for Asian Americans. Here are six different scholarships for AAPI students to apply for, right now.

1. Asian Pacific Fund Scholarships

The Asian Pacific Fund has multiple scholarships available for students in all areas of study. Scholarship amounts and deadlines vary by application, so be sure to sort through them to find the best fit for you.

2. The Korean American Scholarship Foundation Scholarship

The Korean American Scholarship Foundation is a non-profit supporting Korean and Korean American students at the college level. The scholarship amount can range anywhere from $500 to $5,000.

While all are encouraged to apply, preference is given to those whose families were affected by the Korean War or who demonstrate financial need.

3. William K. Schubert Minority Nursing Scholarship

For those interested in nursing, the William K. Schubert Minority Nursing Scholarship is a fantastic opportunity. The scholarship is funded through Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled in college and have a GPA of 2.75 or higher. Funds can reach a maximum of $2,750 per year. The application deadline is May 10, 2023, 11:59 p.m.

4. Groundbreaker Leadership Scholarship

Against the Grain funds the Groundbreaker Leadership Scholarship for Asian American college seniors and graduate students who show strong leadership qualities. Eligibility requirements are a GPA of at least 3.5.

The maximum amount of funding is $1,500. Applications are due May 31, 2023, at 11:59 p.m.

5. Minority Women in STEM Financial Need Scholarship

You can get up to $10,000 when applying for the Minority Women in STEM Financial Need Scholarship. You must be attending or planning to attend the University of Texas at Dallas and be pursuing a degree in their STEM program.

The application deadline is June 15, 2023.

6. Central California Asian Pacific Women Scholarship

The CCAPW scholarship is specifically for women who are first-generation Asian and Pacific Islander students in the central California area. The following counties are eligible:

  • Fresno
  • Kern
  • Kings
  • Madera
  • Merced
  • San Joaquin
  • Stanislaus
  • Tulare

The deadline is May 14, 2023, 11:59 p.m.
