How to use your Southern Co-op student discount
It's dead simple: pull up your Student Beans barcode in the app, get to the main till or self-checkout, and scan it before you pay. It works again and again, so save it to your phone and use it on every shop — just remember a printed copy won't fly, and it's one barcode per transaction.
What's actually covered
The 10% comes off most of your basket, but a few things are excluded: cigarettes, tobacco, e-cigarettes, baby milk, lottery, PayPoint, phone top-ups, stamps, gift cards, in-store concessions, and fuel. It's in-store only too, so this one's for the shop floor, not online orders.
Where you'll find these stores
Southern Co-op stores are thick on the ground across the south of England, with the biggest cluster in Hampshire (78 stores), then a solid spread through Somerset (20), West Sussex (20), Dorset (15), Surrey (13), East Sussex (11), Isle of Wight (8) and Kent (6). Does every Southern Co-op store accept the discount?
No, it's only valid at selected Southern Co-op stores, so check the confirmed list on this page or the store locator before you go. It also can't be used in Co-op Group or other society stores.
Can I use the discount online or for click and collect?
No, this offer is strictly for in-store use only and doesn't apply to online orders.
What can't I use the discount on?
The 10% doesn't cover cigarettes, tobacco, e-cigarettes, baby milk, lottery, PayPoint, phone top-ups, stamps, gift cards, in-store concessions, or fuel. Everything else in your basket should qualify.
Can I combine it with other offers or my membership card?
You can use it alongside a Southern Co-op membership card, as long as it's not a colleague card. It can't be stacked with any other voucher, offer, discount or promotion, including Colleague Discount, and only one Student Beans barcode is allowed per transaction.
Do I need to show a printed voucher?
No, printed copies aren't accepted — the barcode has to be shown and scanned directly from the Student Beans app. Keep your phone charged and ready at the till.
