Nintendo Switch Black Friday Sales 2023: What To Expect
Play anywhere, anytime, with anyone.
It doesn’t seem possible that the Nintendo Switch is already almost 5 years old. However, with all of the new titles slated to release before the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024, the console only seems to be moving from strength to strength.
Naturally, the Nintendo Switch is going to be one of the hottest items to purchase this holiday season, which means it’s time to start scoping out those Black Friday sales. If you’re wondering how you can make your dollar stretch even farther when you’re shopping for anything and everything related to the Nintendo Switch, you’ve come to the right place.
We’ve rounded up everything you’ll need to know about shopping for a Nintendo Switch this Black Friday. From games to accessories, consoles and bundles, you’re bound to find the perfect fit for you, just in time for the holidays.
When will Black Friday Nintendo Switch deals start?
November 25 is the official kick off date for all Black Friday sales. However, plenty of stores have already announced that they’re planning on starting the sales on the Nintendo Switch for Black Friday earlier this year. Most of these deals will be taking place the week leading up to Black Friday.
Some stores are already going in on the holiday discounts, with savings on the Nintendo Switch being spotted in early October. However, the time when you’re going to save the most money is on Black Friday itself and a few days before or after.
Where will the best Nintendo Switch, Lite, and OLED Black Friday deals be?
The following retailers are the best places to shop when it comes to saving money on your Nintendo Switch this Black Friday:
- Amazon: regular savings on Nintendo Switch games and accessories
- Best Buy: one of the first places to offer high-valued Nintendo Switch bundles at a discount
- Newegg: best place for cheap Nintendo Switch accessories
- Walmart: great discounts on Nintendo Switch controllers
- GameStop: stocks plenty of Nintendo Switch bundles during big sale events
How to find the best Black Friday Nintendo Switch deals
As is the case with most Black Friday savings, not every Nintendo Switch savings bundle is going to be the “best” for everyone. It’s important to know exactly what you want, that way you get the most bang for your buck once Black Friday rolls around.
If you remember Black Friday 2021, the only Nintendo Switch bundle available in the US (a standard Nintendo Switch with a copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and three months of Nintendo Switch Online) sold out within a matter of hours. Savings like these have only ever historically appeared during Black Friday events.
That being said, you’re going to have to move quickly when it comes to snagging your Nintendo Switch deals. If you have a specific game in mind that you want with your console, see if there’s a bundle available with it. Even if you can only save around $10, it’s better than nothing. If the game isn’t being offering in a bundle, see if you can snag both a Nintendo Switch and the game you’re eyeing for less if you purchase them separately.
Retailers do try and get sneaky by offering you less for the game by itself than if you got it with a bundle, trying to encourage shoppers to spend more and save less money. The standard Nintendo Switch retails for about $299, and the most popular games run at about $59.99, so be sure to do the math before you buy.
Which Nintendo Switch games will be on sale for Black Friday?
Unfortunately, the biggest Nintendo Switch game titles rarely go on sale. However, some of the original Nintendo Switch titles (like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild) are more susceptible to year-round savings of about $10 or so.
But during Black Friday, the prices of these Nintendo Switch games drop even lower, usually somewhere around $39.99 instead of the regular price of $59.99. But since the lower prices are showing up earlier than usual this year, the Black Friday savings on Nintendo Switch games has the potential to be even bigger this year.
Paper Mario: The Origami King, Luigi’s Mansion 3, and Super Mario Odyssey have dropped as low as $30 or $25 this year, so far. This is a good sign that Nintendo is going to offer more savings than usual this Black Friday and holiday shopping season.
As far as newer Nintendo Switch titles go (think Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Switch Sports, and Splatoon 3), it’s likely going to be about a $10 discount.
