Aside from House of the Dragon, series’ that have been green lit are 10,000 Ships, based on the Dornish warrior queen Nymeria and set 1,000 years before the events of Game of Thrones; The Sea Snake, centered around Lord Corlys Velaryon; Tales of Dunk and Egg, taken from a series of novellas by George R.R. Martin; Snow, a recently announced project from Kit Harrington; an animated show titled The Golden Empire of Yi Ti exploring Essos; and two other yet-unnamed animated shows.

What Is House of the Dragon About?

A prequel to the events of Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon focuses on the Targaryen family and the beginning of their fall from grace and the events that lead up to the family’s civil war, known as the “Dance of Dragons.”

The civil war starts over a disagreement regarding who will take the throne after the death of King Viserys I. This event marks the downward spiral of House Targaryen, culminating in the “Mad King” Rhaegar and “Mad Queen” Daenerys.
