Get Paid $30,000 To Move To Italy

You could get paid to relocate this summer.

Are you kind of over all the drama going on in the US? You’re not alone in noticing that this year’s election is kind of a dumpster fire. If you’re frantically searching Skyscanner for cheap flights and seeing where you could go to restore your mental health before the end of summer, we’ve found an even better offer.

What about moving somewhere full-time and getting paid to do so? It turns out that Tuscany is looking for new residents. The city launched a new scheme to help encourage residents to pack up and move there. Not a bad offer, right?

Tuscany’s regional authorities launched the brand new Residency in the Mountains scheme (or Residenzialita in Montagna, if you want to brush up on your Italian). They’re offering people grants to help set up their lives there.

How To Get Paid To Move To Italy

Obviously, you have to be willing to pack up and actually move abroad, first and foremost. Tuscany is looking for new residents for its rural mountain towns. Does the idea of a quiet and slower life in the sunshine (not to mention access to some of the tastiest food) sound like the perfect escape? Then this could be a dream come true.

There is a small catch. As a new resident, you’ll be expected to help boost tourism and revitalize some of these smaller towns. How? By renovating a home there. If DIY isn’t your thing, now might be the time to test some of your skills.

There are 76 small mountain towns to choose from. All of them have a population of less than 5,000. That means you’ll need to commit to moving there and renovating a home to boost tourism. The towns include the spa town of San Casciana dei Bagni and Caprese Michelangelo, the birthplace of Renaissance artist Michelangelo.

Your grant can range between $11,000- $30,000 to help set you up and renovate your new dream home. However, your payment cannot exceed more than 50% of the cost of the house and its renovation.

Other requirements include a commitment to making your new Tuscan property your permanent residence and registering as a resident of an Italian town or city that is not a mountain city first. You’ll also need to be an Italian or EU citizen or non-EU citizen with a residence permit to apply.

You can apply right here on the Tuscany Region website (but translate it into English if your Italian skills aren’t great yet). If you seriously fancy a change and a challenge this could be the dream opportunity for you to try after graduating this summer.

Applications are due July 27th
