These Italian Towns Are Selling Houses For Just €1
You could buy a home in a stunning Italian town for just €1.
If you dream of buying a home but can’t see yourself getting on the UK property ladder any time soon, you could be in luck. If you’d love to leave the UK and settle in Italy, it’s now possible to buy Italian property for just €1!
How can I buy a house for €1?
The town of Sant’Elia a Pianisi has 8 houses up for grabs for just €1, and while it will hardly cost you anything to buy the house, there’s a slight catch—these houses will need a lot of work done. So if you’re interested, you would need to put down a deposit of €5,000 (£4,303) to help cover the renovation work that will be needed. Plus, you would have to pay the regular fees involved with home ownership, but compared to buying property in the UK, this is still an absolute bargain!
If you do purchase one of these houses, you will need to commit to a renovation project which you’d have to present to the local authority within 6 months of purchasing the house, and you’ll have 3 years to complete the renovation works. Buyers who will use local materials and workers will be favoured, and the goal is to make small towns in Italy more vibrant and tourist-friendly.
