We’ve Ranked The Best Dating Apps To Snag A Date For Valentine’s Day

Single this Valentine’s Day? We’ve got you.

If you’re bored of being the single friend, you’re probably well aware that Valentine’s Day is coming up.

Luckily, it’s 2022 and there’s no reason why you should have to sit in and spend Valentine’s Day on your own while your friends go out and enjoy themselves, thanks to the gift to the world that is dating apps. If you’re looking to secure a date for Valentine’s Day this year, we’ve ranked the dating apps that are most likely to secure you one and the ones you need to avoid.

Hinge- 9/10

Hinge tends to be the app of choice nowadays, for people who are actually looking to get into a relationship. Hinge’s slogan isn’t “designed to be deleted” for nothing, it’s the dating app that people are most likely to find a perfect match from as it’s the app for people who have had enough of dating apps.

Not only do the prompts and questions make it easy for you to weed out a potential match (and who to definitely avoid) you can be super upfront in your prompts too and make it clear that you’re looking for a date for V-Day and all potential matches need to be prepared to take you out.

Thursday- 0/10

Ok hear us out, Thursday, one of the newest dating apps on the scene is actually a good app. However, you’ll have no luck securing a date for Valentine’s Day this year as the app only allows you to arrange dates on a Thursday and V-Day falls on a Monday this year (we know, not the most romantic day of the week). But, if you are looking to try something new non-Valentine’s related it’s definitely an app to add to your radar.

Bumble 6/10

Bumble puts all the power in the hands of the women, meaning it can really go either way when trying to secure a date. If you’re a woman, looking for a date this Valentine’s Day you can choose to be selective about who you match with and message. If you’re a man, you really just have to wait and hope someone reaches out to you first.

For single women this can work to your advantage, after all if you’ve made the first move surely they’re more likely to say yes? (especially as men on Bumble can’t make the first move). If you’re a single man, you’re just going to have to hope one of your matches wants to make the first move, and take any chance you get.

Tinder- 2/10

Let’s face it, Tinder is one to be avoided if you’re trying to get anywhere serious. While you might be able to secure a date for Valentine’s Day if you’re really lucky, Tinder is full of people who are either looking for something casual or who are cheating on their significant others. The cheaters definitely won’t be taking you out for V-Day as they’ll already have plans and the casual daters won’t want the commitment that comes with a Valentine’s Day date out in public and are more likely to ask you to hang out one on one at their house. Hey, if you’re in to that than yep, maybe Tinder’s the place for you but if you’re looking for anything slightly more serious, avoid at all costs.

Not to mention a date on Valentine’s Day comes with a certain label, if you do go out people are going to think you’re a longterm couple and if you secure a tinder date, trust us they will have no interest in ever seeing you again.

Raya- 5/10

If you haven’t heard of Raya, you’re probably not exclusive enough to get onto it. Raya is a dating app for the rich and famous (see also, influencers, TikTokers and wannabe models living in big cities) and there’s a set criteria you need to fit before you’ll even be considered for a profile. No one knows exactly what it is, but it’s definitely based on followers and status, so if you’ve heard your fave YouTubers or Influencers talking about it, you’ll know the type of people who have a profile.

We hate to break it to you but the average uni student probably isn’t going to be on Raya. But, let’s say influencing is your side-hustle or you managed to go viral on TikTok and you do have a profile, your chances of securing a date might actually be quite high. Raya is an “exclusive” dating app, it’s the app that people who are “too famous” for Hinge and Tinder use. So, you can imagine the selection of people on there is far better than the other apps. Due to the requirements around being accepted, those who have a Raya profile, really want to be on Raya so if you’ve made it that far your chances of scoring a decent date are pretty high.
