The 5 Best TVs For PS5 in 2023

Need a TV for your PS5? Here are the best TV for PS5 recommendations in the UK.

The best TVs for PS5 have 120Hz refresh rates and a 4K resolution. These settings match the capabilities of a PS5, meaning if you want the best out of your gameplay, then a TV to match is going to be your best bet.

Why is a TV to match the PS5’s set-up important?? Consoles like the PS5 support higher resolutions at 4K and faster refresh rates (up to 120Hz), so a TV with HDMI 2.1 connection is needed to reap the benefits. Plus,  Sony released a firmware update to add variable refresh rate (VRR) support to the PS5, so you’ll also want to get a TV with VRR which can help reduce the risk of tearing.

But don’t worry, if you can’t afford a TV with HDMI 2.1, your PS5 will still run with a 1080 display and will still look good. The good news is that all modern 4K TVs of note have HDMI connectivity supporting 4K at 60fps. We do recommend 120fps though, especially if you’re an online competitive player.

Here are the best TVs that meet PS5 TV requirements, including some of the best 120Hz Tvs for gaming, that suit all price points and needs.

Best TVs for PS5

LG OLED C1 — £1,199

Best Large Screen TV For PS5

lg c1 oled tv for ps5

One of the best PS5 TV setups to invest in has to be the LG OLED C1. It has large OLED panels which makes gaming in a dark room a breeze, thanks to its perfect, inky black levels for amazing imaging. You won’t need to worry about blooming around lighter objects either and dark in-game menus will still look great. Its wide viewing angle means fantastic viewing no matter where you place the LG C1 too.

Plus, as one of the best TVS for PS5 should have, you get four HDMI 2.1 ports that are enabled with VRR support, meaning you can connect your PS5 to any of these and reap the benefits of PS5 120hz games with little to no lag. With the lack of lag, the LG C1 will provide smooth motion for a truly lifelike feel. Its HDR peak brightness is still pretty decent but it’s not top of the range, however, its contrasts are unmatched.

The only disadvantage we can think of is the fact that OLEDs are prone to permanent burn-in. This happens when the TV constantly has the same static imagery for long periods of time (e.g. a gaming menu or specific screen saver), but you won’t need to worry too much if you don’t leave your game constantly paused like that! Overall though, It’s some of the best TV settings for PS5 consoles you could ask for.

LG OLED G1 — £2,179

Best OLED TV For PS5

lk oled evo ps5 tv

The best OLED TV for PS5 and Xbox Series X gaming consoles all around has to be the LG OLED G1. It’s designed to be wall-mounted, so make sure you don’t mind this or have the space to mount a TV.

This 4K TV for PS5 incorporates “Evo” technology and offers some of the highest brightness levels than previous LG TV models. 800 nits, to be precise, which is one of the reasons why it made our best TVs for PS5 list. This technology provides super deep blacks, amazing shadow details and thanks to its luminescent blue material and new green layer, resulting in brighter, punchier imagery. Something that’s even more impressive is its Auto Genre mode which uses Deep Learning technology to optimise different types of content. So yes, you can enjoy various gaming genres in the lighting and sharpness they deserve.

Overall, we found the latency to be incredibly low too. As features go, it’s one of the best 4K TVs with HDMI 2.1, four HDMI 2.1 ports in fact, which is perfect for running your top 120Hz PS5 titles. It also comes with ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), VRR G-Sync, and VRR AMD Freesync for a truly life-like gaming experience.

Sonically, while fitted with Dolby Atmos decoding, the TV doesn’t have the best immersive sound. It’s passable though, but if immersive audio is important to you, a headset or additional sound system may be required. Also, you will have to pay a little extra for mounting as it’s not included in the box. This is the only downside we can see, but with all the other positive things in the mix, it’s a small price to pay, especially as the TV exceedingly meets tv specs for PS5 consoles. So consider it on your best TVs for PS5 list when shopping!

For the best LED TV for PS5, we highly recommend the Samsung QN90A QLED. This flagship PS5 TV has a ton of features for gamers and with it being an LED panel type, you’re not gonna have to worry about burn-in.

Hisense A6GT TV — from £325.50

Best Cheap TV For PS5

hisense a6gt tv for ps5 consoles

If you’re after the best tv for PS5 UK under £500, then the Hisense A6GT TV shouldn’t go amiss. With “DLED” technology (a direct backlight arrangement), makes it a little bulky, but for the price offers very decent backlighting to your games.

Although the cheapest HDMI 2.1 TV on the list, it packs a punch for the price you pay. It’s compatible with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision which some big brands don’t even have. Plus, it has 3 HDMI sockets which are compatible with ALLM and VRR (one of which is ARC-enabled). They’re all joined with a pair of USB inputs (one 3.0, one 2.0), a CI card slot, an Ethernet socket, an RF aerial for the digital and analogue tuners, and composite video input for your properly vintage equipment. Wi-Fi takes care of wireless functionality, and there are digital optical and analogue 3.5mm outputs.

Need a break from gaming? The Hisense A6GT TV has Amazon Alexa voice control which you can access via the Remote NOW app it comes with. Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, Freeview Play or, um, Rakuten TV are also included too, meaning you can stream your favourite shows while having a break or waiting for a game to download.

The build isn’t anything luxurious due to its plastic build, and it can even be stood up on its boomerang-like stand in any place you can fit it. Another downside is that while it does meet tv requirements for PS5 consoles, it doesn’t support 120fps gaming. You can still use the Hisense A6GT to play on the PS5, but just lower your expectations on frame rate.

What’s in the box?
  • 1 x Hisense A6GT TV

What TV do you need for PS5?

The TV you need for a PS5 is ideally one with 4K resolution and the highest refresh rate you can get, around 60Hz to 120Hz. You don’t necessarily need a 4K TV to play games on the PS5, but with most games optimised for 4K and fast fps, it’s worth investing in one. This is especially true if you play a fast-paced game that requires quick reaction times, like Call of Duty, Fortnite or Apex Legends to name a few.

Do you need a 4K TV for PS5?

You don’t need a 4K TV for a PS5. The one thing you do need is an HDMI connection. The PS5 has an HDMI 2.1 cable in the box, so you’d get the best resolution if your set-up matches that quality. This doesn’t mean it won’t work, however, the resolution will be compromised if the set-up doesn’t match.

What TVs have HDMI 2.1?

Lots of TVs nowadays usually have at least one HDMI 2.1 port. The best brands to look for with HDMI 2.1 ports are:

  • Samsung
  • Sony
  • LG
  • Hisense
  • Vizio.

Is PS5 4K?

The PS5 is a 4K console and can output UHD resolutions of 3840 x 2160p (which means 4K) when using any of the best 120Hz 4K TVs for gaming. Keep in mind that it will only output true 4K at 120fps if the TV and monitor also match the settings. This is why it’s important to have a 4K TV with 120Hz if you really want to experience your PS5 in 4K.

How to transfer PS4 data to PS5

Want to play the best PS4 and PS5 co-op games? If you have a PS5 but originally played on a PS4, you’ll be able to load up your save data and use the same PS4 disc on your PS5. To load up your date, you’ll need to transfer it from your PS4 to PS5.

You’ll need to have your PS4 and PS5 plugged in and turned on and have a stable internet connection. We recommend having two monitors to do this, however you can just swap out the cables to view the displays between consoles. Here’s how to transfer PS4 data to PS5:

  1. Turn on your PS5, sign into your profile, and go to Settings > System > System Software > Data Transfer. Read the on-screen warning and hit Continue
  2. Turn on your PS4 and sign into the same profile
  3. Your PS5 will begin searching for your PS4
    1. If it can’t be located, check that both consoles are connected to the same network and restart your PS4
  4. Once the PS4 is located, Press the PS4’s power button for 1 second until it beeps. You’ll have 5 minutes to do this before the process resets
  5. After the PS4 restarts, you should see a list of the console’s save files displayed on your PS5. Select the data you want to transfer (or Select All to transfer everything across). When finished, click Next
  6. Select the games or apps you wish to transfer and click Next
  7. Selecting PS4 games and apps to transfer to PS5 with a checkmark and Next highlighted
  8. Press Start Transfer to begin.
