How To Get Met Gala Beauty On A Budget

While the Met Gala always provides us with fashion to drool over and sometimes to question, the make-up looks give us a more detailed look into the minuscule modern-day beauty trends.

And while many of the garments would be out of place in our own personal wardrobes, the classic make-up looks seen at this year’s Met provide us with ample inspiration for our day-to-day make-up routines.

In the spirit of this year’s theme of In America: An Anthology of Fashion, many stars opted for timeless beauty styles filled with moody dark lips and smokey eyes.

To achieve the Gilded Glamour look on a budget, look to the likes of Lizzo and Gigi Hadid who opted for high-street brands, Charlotte Tilbury and Maybelline. Or, if you fancy trying a high-end dupe, Kylie Jenner and Simone Ashley’s looks could easily be recreated with some MUA or Revolution Beauty products.

Lizzo – GET THE LOOK

For this year’s Met Gala, Lizzo rocked up with the perfect vampy lip to match her powerful Thom Browne corset dress, and her make-up artist @iwantalexx was quick to let us into the secret on Instagram.

The stunning lip is a combo of two Charlotte Tilbury fan faves – the Matte Revolution lipstick in shade Festival Magic and the Lip Cheat liner in Bad Romance. This iconic combo cost just £45 (or £38.25 with Student Beans’ 15% off discount).

Kim Kardashian – GET THE LOOK

While Kim’s make-up artist, @makeupbymario, has yet to reveal what brands she wore to the event, they have already disclosed some juicy insight into her pre-Met skincare prep.

While you may assume Kim opts for something lavish and pricy, her choice of Augustinus Bader comes in at a reasonable price. The Cream Cleansing Gel she used just before the Met comes in at just £20 if opting for the 30ml size – a perfect amount if you want to sample it yourself.

Kylie Jenner – GET THE DUPE

While Kylie’s attire may have already seen a lot of question marks, her face was as on point as always with her glassy skin and buttery lipstick. Her rosy blush is the facial fave though, with its warm pigment pushing through her birdcage veil.

For a budget-friendly option, try MUA’s Blush Duo in shade Peachy for just £3 (or £2.55 with Student Beans’ discount).

Gigi Hadid – GET THE LOOK

Moody red lips were a prominent trend at this year’s Met, but Gigi Hadid opted to match her entire ensemble to her pout. But where did Gigi find such a pigmented and glossy blood-red lip? Well, according to her MUA @erinparsonsmakeup, the whole look was a budget-friendly Maybelline face.

The lip specifically was Maybelline’s Superstay Vinyl Ink, and although the shade is unconfirmed, Lippy looks like a solid match.

Simone Ashley – GET THE DUPE

This year’s breakout star, Simone Ashley, graced the Met with just as much regality as her Brigerton counterpart. Made over in full by Pat McGrath, the actor wore shadows from the Mothership VII: Divine Rose palette, which comes in at £84.

For something a little more budget-friendly, the shades in Revolution Beauty’s I Heart Heartbreakers Eyeshadow Palette in the aptly named Majestic colourway aren’t too dissimilar.
