A Student Beans survey recently found that students are looking to rent their graduation outfits, with the majority interested in rental clothing primarily for the ease of experimentation and the desire for newness.
Two thirds of young Brits are interested in clothing rental sites as they allow shoppers to try new brands that are usually out of their budget, as well as letting them experiment with new trends without the commitment of purchasing.
Half of Gen Z are interested in renting for the traditional reason behind outfit renting — because it’s better for the planet. But that’s experimentation and the environment aren’t the only reasons — other interests in clothing rental services include:
- It’s cheaper than buying clothes (49%)
- It requires less or no laundry (19%)
- Gen Z can rent different sizes if their body size fluctuates (18%)
