First British man to give birth revealed
A 27-year-old man is believed to be Britain’s first ‘male mother’.
We were never particularly hot when it came to biology, but one thing we thought we had down was the whole ‘women have babies, men don’t’ thingamajig.
Not for the first time, we were wrong.
The Telegraph has revealed that a 27-year-old university graduate has become the first man to have a baby.
Born a woman, the new mum/dad has undergone treatment to change his gender. He then went on to give birth to a baby girl in March last year.
Some medical ethics experts have since called for an inquiry into the issue - claiming that the interests of the child should not be risked to ‘fulfil the rights of an adult’.
However, fertility centres involved in transsexual births have stated that it is no different to the usual service they provide.
The Brit is not the first man to give birth. According to a transgender support group there have been two others - one in Spain and on in the US.
And, of course, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
