9 inappropriate things found in kid's cartoons
Bugs bunny's penis, cows having orgasms, homophobia. Yes, cartoons are more explicit than you remember.
Life as a cartoonist can be extremely boring. Apparently. You sit there day after day, drawing, then drawing some more before taking a short break before drawing some more. No wonder a few of them go mental and put Bugs Bunny's penis into cartoons. I mean, I know they should be 'responsible' when it comes to the content they show children but then again, drawing a man getting raped is just so much fun right. Right?
A few weeks ago we showed you why Disney have been very naughty with 5 hidden sexual messages in Disney films but now it seems that everyone is at it. I'm shocked, appalled and really quite amused, all at the same time. Judge for yourself:
1. Bugs Bunny's Penis
It's 1942, it's a Bugs Bunny cartoon called "Wabbit Who Came To Dinner". It also stars Bugs Bunny.
And he's brought a friend...
2. Condom People vs The Masturbating Monster
Balloon Land. Such an innocent name for a film. Back in 1935 a cartoonist called Ub Iwerks created this monstrosity. Later he would go on to create Mickey Mouse. But the way I remember it, Mickey Mouse didn't have a sharp penis like appendage sticking out of his groin. He also didn't rub it vigourously whilst scaring some poor unfortunate condom- sorry, balloon children. Probably why Mickey Mouse was a huge success and Balloon Land, well, wasn't.
3. Fingering Prince
Prince wants to be fingered. Thankfully he doesn't get what he wants.
4. Cow Has An Orgasm
Rocko's Modern Life was a show that wasn't afraid to tackle adult issues. Here it takes a look at ethical issues around farming, in particular focusing on the plight of cows.
5.Gay Bashing
In this episode the series creator Joe Murray tackles homophobia. He may claim in interviews that one of the series' biggest goals was to "incorporate adult humor and references" into Rocko's Modern Life but we all know that's code for "I really really want to instil good morals into children at a young age". Speaking of which:
6. Phone Sex
Here Joe really illuminates the plight of phone sex operators everywhere and duly reminds children to "be hot, be NAUGHTY" and of course "be courteous". What a guy.
7. A Man Gets Assaulted
Dragonball Z was a strange cartoon. After what is basically a rape ends at the start of the video you can stop it and not bother to watch the rest. Any cartoon that peaks with a rape scene is definitely doing something wrong...
8. Drowning Babies
Back in time again, this time to1931. Ah, the past. Simpler times. World Wars, global economic depression and children watching a brother throw his baby brother into a pool of water and only saving him because his non-psychopathic dog gave him a bit of grief about it. Yes, when your grandparents have a go at the state of the world maybe show them this.
9. Tom and Jerry Commit Suicide
Any cartoon that ends with "in a few minutes it'll all be over" and that "it's better this way" probably isn't going to be all that suitable for kids. Not that that stopped anyone.
