University dorm for clingy parents

Overprotective parents sleep in university sports hall.

For anyone whose parents cracked open the champagne the minute they left for university, and came back after the first term to find their bedroom converted into 'mum's study', this might come as a bit of shock. Parents in China actually miss their kids when they go. Like, really miss them.

In fact, at the university in Wuhan, they've had so many parents who just can't let go that they've actually had to set up a dormitory for them in the sports hall.

Apparently this kind of behaviour is pretty common in China, where the country's one child policy has led to some very overprotective parents.

A university spokesman said 'They often can't accept that their children have now left home and come to university. Sometimes they move to the local area for months offering to cook and clean for their children - and keep an eye on them'. Scary. Very scary.
