Brits too cynical to take free cash

Research has proven that the ingrained cynicism of Britons is so strong that they will turn down free cash when it is offered to them.

If there’s one thing we know about our users (by which we mean you lovely lot) it’s that you love free stuff. Cinema tickets. Gym membership. Even lube. You can’t get enough.

But the reason you’re happy to take free stuff from us is because, we hope, you trust us - and know that we’re trying to help you out. But what happens when someone offers you free stuff in the street?

According to new research, you don’t like it very much at all!

Women wearing sandwich boards reading, ‘Ask me to pay your bus fare and I will’, were positioned at but stations in Newcastle, Manchester, Leicester, Medway and Perth during rush hour each morning for a week.

However, during the experiment just 38 out of thousands of commuters took them up on the offer.

The study found that those who did accept the cash were generally teenagers - indicating that as we get older we get much more cynical.

We’re not so sure - we don’t think you’ll ever be too old for free lube!
