Holidays in Britain
Not convinced by a holiday right here in old Blighty? Then read on to discover five destinations that will definitely change your mind.
1. Newquay
Chances are a lot of you have been there already, but there's a reason why students return to the surfer's town of Newquay.
Whether you want activities to fill up the days or to take you through the night Newquay has it all.
There is plenty to do in the water whether its surfing, kitesurfing or maybe just having a splash around.
If you're not keen on hitting the waves you could get active on the ground with go-karting and horse riding or relax with a wonder around the shops.
The best place to stay has to be a campsite, try SmugglersHaven.co.uk if you want to join the student masses.
2. London
Thousands of tourists come to London so why can't we take a break there?
It's likely that most of you won't have seen half of what this vibrant city has to offer so get on down to London and stay for a weekend.
Whether you're with friends or looking to have a romantic weekend its undeniable that London really does have something for everyone.
Go on an old fashioned tour bus and see the sights, take a cruise down the Thames, laze around in Hyde park or go to Camden market and soak up the city vibe.
For the most dedicated student clubbers you can't go wrong with clubs and bars to suit all tastes.
So next time you're strapped for cash and want to get away remember that you don't have to travel far to get that holiday feeling.Sian Jones
3. Dublin
Another city which is a favourite with students is Dublin, with flights often from 1p it's a definite winner.
Stay in a hostel, make new friends and discover the Irish way of life.
If you haven't tried Guinness then this is the best time too, with the student friendly tour of the Guinness factory and once you've reached the top you get a pint and a great view of the city.
The Temple Bar area is famous for its lively nightlife, which will keep the students happy and if you fancy a laugh with that beer look out for pubs holding stand up comedy nights.
4. Wales
Camping in Wales may conjure up pictures of a miserable school trip in the rain but it can be a great destination for you and your friends to chill out, get the barbie going and truly get back to nature (or as close as students can).
This holiday should be avoided by those who cannot live without their hair straighteners or those who are used to holidays involving fish bowls and dancing on the bar all night.
5. Edinburgh
Never been to Scotland? Now is the time, with a trip to Edinburgh.
So it may not be the best place to top up your tan but with your fake tan packed this could be the perfect destination for a summer break.
Known as the festival city, people come to share their interests in culture, the arts, as well as science and politics.
With such a variety you're bound to find an event that suits you and don't worry there is also a buzzing nightlife to keep you entertained for your whole stay.
So next time you're strapped for cash and want to get away, remember that you don't have to travel far to get that holiday feeling.
