Greek Island Hopping

With beautiful scenery, gorgeous beaches, and average summer temperatures of 25-32°C, there are over 15 main Greek islands to visit, each offering the perfect backdrop to watch the sun go down.

Here's one route you could choose to island hop your way around the Med...

Dance to the music

First stop is the largest of the Greek islands; Crete. Fly direct with Monarch or Excelairways.

Try wind sailing and jet skiing, or visit the Aqua Plus Waterpark in Hersonissos. At night, choose from numerous restaurants and tavernas to eat at before hitting the vast array of bars and clubs along the sea front.

For dance, house and electro music hedonists, go to the Pleasure Beach complex in Malia, where Hed Kandi have played the last two summers. Crete is definitely the first island to party it up after all that studying.

Cosmopolitan Culture Vulture

From Crete, fly or catch the ferry across to the chic island of Mykonos, popular with jet setters and artists.

With its traditional white architecture contrasting against the warm blue Aegean Sea, Mykonos is steeped in mythology and boasts several sandy beaches to lounge the day away.

Wander around the labyrinth of narrow streets in Mykonos Town or visit the tiny island of Delos, birthplace of the god Apollo.

The area of Little Venice on the island caters to all food tastes, along with traditional tavernas serving authentic Greek dishes. Expect an invitation to join in the Greek dancing after you eat!

Idyllic Island Paradise

The finale of the island hop finishes in the most beautiful and picturesque of the islands; Kefalonia. Take a trip to the magical Melissani Lake, an underground lake situated within a cave that was formed during an earthquake in 1953.

Alternatively, if you're feeling energetic, put your hiking boots on and climb Mount Ainos for spectacular aerial views of the island.

Snorkel and dive amongst the crystal clear waters and if you're lucky, you may bump into the local underwater Greek residents - the Caretta loggerhead sea turtles.

However for total relaxation, head to the long, golden sandy beach in Skala or the scenicMyrtos beach (as featured in the film Captain Corelli's Mandolin) to top up that perfect tan before you leave. Visit kefaloniainfo.net for more details.
