Combatting The Epidemic That Is...FRESHER'S FLU
No matter how invincible we students think we are, the baked bean and Guinness diet will do us no favours if we come down with a bout of the dreaded flu.
The rumours are true...no-one is safe from the ever growing plague; Fresher's Flu.
If one flatmate gets it, well it's a given that soon your whole building will be panic buying tissues.
It's nearly upon us...Fresher's week is back with a vengeance, but how will you avoid the dreaded flu?Lauren Hart
However, just in case you want to avoid the plague at all costs, here are a few tips that may help the average student:
- As soon as you feel the drinking sessions are taking a toll on your body, boost yourself with vitamins whether it be vitamin C and zinc, or those lovely chewy sweetie vitamins you had when you were eight - they were the best!
- Not meaning to sound like your mother, but drink lots of water as it really does help on the way to a detox by keeping your body fresh and hydrated.
- If it's the night time that affects you most, and you're one of those people that rolls about in bed for hours due to that stuffy nose keeping you awake, drink a cup of camomile tea for a soothing affect and invest in a nasal spray, as they work wonders with a blocked nose!
- Alternatively try Lemsip, either the cold and flu decongestant tablets or the hot drink sachets contain both flu fighting ingredients and a dose of paracetamol to combat aches and pains.
- It would be advisable that if you felt you could tear yourself away from the fun, an evening of hot water bottles and an early night would probably help on your way to recovery.
If all else fails, some would say the best thing to do is to not let the flu beat you and party through the pain.
Obviously here at Beanzine, we do not condone drunken students, however, there is the saying "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em". HERE HERE!
