Time for a commercial break

Mostly, they're annoying. They eat into your TV viewing timetrying to sell you junk you just don't want.

But now and again there comesalong a little gem that's entertaining, controversial, or just downrightridiculous.

Here are some of the best adverts from the past couple of weeks.

Subway

The first time somebody turned to me with a slightly maniclook on their face and hissed "Hot hot!", I thought they were a little bitstrange. OK, a lot strange.

But when I saw the latest Subway advert featuring alife-sized jalapeño pepper jibing a customer about his spiciness preferences, Igot it.

The sudden urge to mimic the giant vegetable seems unavoidable to allwho see it. Entertaining, if not mildly disturbing.

Orangina

If the Subway advert was slightly unsettling, then this oneis off the scale.

Does the sight of numerous CGI animals, enhanced with longlegs, breasts and bikinis, make you want to buy Orangina?

How about watchingthem pole dancing, gyrating, and dousing themselves in the drink? No? Meneither.

"I'll never look at a deer the same way again," shudders Joseph, 18.Enough said.

How about watching them pole dancing, gyrating, and dousing themselves in the drink?

Cow and Gate

This one gets a place in the list for pure entertainmentvalue.

I've lost count of how many people I've seen just giggling along to thisadvert - which, in case you're wondering, features numerous babies in fits oflaughter.

Don't see why it's entertaining? Check out the advert and it's sureto make you smile.

T-Mobile

One in a series of borderline controversial adverts (thinkcommunication with the dead, destruction of priceless artefacts), the latestinstallment from T-Mobile features a person inserting his arm into the rear endof a cow in search of a better phone deal.

Laura, 21, thinks it's "just a bitweird"- yet, like the previous ones in the series, oddly amusing.

"They're allrather ridiculous, but you definitely remember them!" she concludes.

Oasis

The storyline based Cactus Kid adverts created by Oasis arenothing short of genius.

Though I've had to explain this advert to several ofmy friends (she doesn't drink water- she's trying to be different by gettingwith the guy who doesn't drink water either- get it?) the general consensus is that they're pretty clever, pretty entertaining, and you sure want to know what's going to happen to herand Cactus Kid.

Do you know how shegot sunburn on the bottom of her feet...?
