10 . The Shawshank Redemption
OK - so there are some darker moments throughout The Shawshank Redemption (even we can't argue that a lonely old man hanging himself is anything other than heartbreaking), but we promise it's worth it in the end. Redemption is the name of the game, and just as Andy Dufresne becomes 'the man who crawled through a river of shit and came out clean on the other side', you'll hopefully be able to look at the world with renewed optimism. And if not, Morgan Freeman's voice will cheer up even the grumpiest of souls.
