Student sex and technology: The facts
From dumping via text, to dating via Twitter, with a side of filming yourselves ‘doing the deed’ - it seems students are rather fond of their tech.
Our student sex survey revealed some rather interesting - and occasionally eye opening - statistics about what you guys get up to in your spare time.
While the 2012 University Sex League is, as you might expect, getting a lot of attention - there were plenty of other results that caught our attention - particularly the link between sex and technology.
We don’t mean that students have sex with robots - not that there’s anything wrong with that sort of thing, each to their own etc.
What we actually mean is how they use technology to meet people, to communicate with them, and potentially even document their ‘intimate encounters’.
Dumped by text
We’re not sure whether to be impressed or disappointed to hear that 23% of you have dumped someone via text, with 6% ending it on Facebook and 9% via an instant messenger - shame on you!
Sex from Facebook
The internet also seems to play a surprisingly significant role in the way young people meet - one in ten students asked claim to have had a relationship with someone they met on the internet, and here we were thinking that online dating was only for sad old losers like us!
But it’s not just online dating sites that students use to find ‘love’ - 5% of you admitted to having sex with someone you met on either Facebook or Twitter... #wellplayed
Sex tapes
Finally - perhaps influenced by a certain X-Factor judge - it would seem that you guys aren’t exactly backwards in coming forwards when it comes to recording yourselves getting down to business.
23% of those asked have filmed themselves having sex with their partner, while half of you held your hands up and told us that you’ve 'sexted' naughty pics to your better half.
What would your mother say!
