Interview: Pixie Lott

The 19-year-old singer discusses her style icons, defends Essex girls and reveals which celeb made her cry.

What are the best and worst things about being famous?

I love to be invited everywhere, but I hate the paps.

How did you find being a judge for The X Factor live auditions? Got any favourite contestants?

I loved it. I enjoyed being on the other side of the fence as usually I'm the one auditioning. All the contestants were great, I can't decide at the mo.

You've also just featured in Fred:The Movie - how did you find making it and is acting something you'd like to pursue?

It was great making Fred: The Movie, I met so many lovely people and learnt so many things. I've always enjoyed acting as I was trained to act at the Italia Conti Academy of Performing Arts.

Were there any aspects of stage school you didn't enjoy?

No, I loved every minute of it and have fond memories that will be with me forever. Italia Conti taught me lots and gave me such a great foundation for the entertainment industry.

Do you feel you've missed out on anything by not going to uni?

No not really as my life is so manic - my brother Steve is at UEA Uni and I sometimes go an visit him if I want to have a bit of uni life.

What's been the highlight of your music career so far?

My album launch, where a plane was chartered with my name on. I flew to Berlin first for a gig and then flew back to London for another gig all in one day!

How do you feel about kicking off your first UK tour in November?

I'm really excited! I love to perform with my band live and I'm looking forward to having dancers as I love to dance.

You performed at V Festival this summer - which other acts did you enjoy watching?

I loved watching Madness with my dad, they are one of his faves and there was such a great atmosphere.

Is there anyone you've been really starstruck by meeting?

Mariah Carey, she brought a tear to my eye.

You're from Essex - do you feel pale in comparison to most of the girls there?

Dont be silly, why do Essex girls have to be stereotyped?!  All of my friends from Essex are not tanned!

Has anything really embarrassing ever happened to you on stage?

Yes, I was wearing a dress that came unzipped!

You've designed for Lipsy - how would you describe your style? Which are your favourite shops and designers?

For my next 'Pixie Lott by Lipsy' collection, I have tried to incorporate my style icons (Bridget Bardot & Audrey Hepburn) when designing. My favourite designers are Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel and Fendi, Moschino, Dolce & Gabbana, Jaeger and I love Lipsy and Top Shop!
