The most delicious shots in the universe
With Freshers' Week fast approaching we bring you recipes for some of the tastiest shots there ever were - cheers!
We've all been there - whether through choice, peer pressure, or being physically forced into it, more often than not a night out descends into rounds of shots.
And with the majority of shots tasting like liquefied evil, this usually results in gagging, less-than-attractive facial expressions and the occasional bout of vomming in the corner.
Well, good readers, fear not. There are less hateful shots out there. Here are some of our favourites.
Are you on the guest list yet for early entry (+ freebies) to the world's first ever online Freshers' Fair (all years)?
Barbie Shot
You will need:
- 0.25 oz Coconut Rum
- 0.25 oz Vodka
- Cranberry Juice
- Orange Juice
- Ice
You will need to: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice; pour the ingredients in, strain out the contents, and serve in shot glasses, all whilst singing about how life in plastic really is fantastic.
Squashed Frog
You will need:
- 25ml Advocat
- 25ml Midori
- Drop of Grenadine
You will need to: Mix together the Advocat and Midori, pour into a glass, and add the drop of Grenadine. Apparently, the Grenadine will sink to the bottom and look a little like blood. Which is nice.

Baby Guinness
You will need:
- Tia Maria
- Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur
You will need to: Fill up a shot glass with about ¾ Tia Maria, then layer the Baileys on top with a spoon to create the illusion of looking like a really small version of Guinness.
Jelly Shots
You will need:
- A packet of Jelly
- Vodka
- Little plastic cups
You will need to: Melt the jelly with hot water. Now, whilst pretending that you are making some good ole-fashioned and wholesome jelly, substitute the vodka for about 1/2 of 1/3 of the cold water that you would then use to add to the mixture (after you have used the hot water). Pour out into little cups, store in the freezer, and gulp down the next day.

Skittle Bomb
You will need: To read: this. Simples.
Chocolate Cake
You will need:
- 1 Sugared Lemon
- ½ shot’s worth of Bacardi Limon
- ½ shot’s worth of Frangelico (a Hazelnut liqueur. Sounds fancy)
You will need to: Mix the liqueurs into a shot glass, down it and then suck on the lemon. Does it taste like chocolate cake to you? No? Well, it still tastes a darn site better than Tequila or Sambuca.
Nutella shots
You will need:
- 1 shot Vanilla Vodka
- 1 shot Baileys or Frangelico Liqueur
- 2 tbsp of Nutella
- 1 cup of ice
- 1/2 cup of milk
You will need to: Put all of the ingredients into a blender and pour out the mixture into shot glasses. Finish off by lining the rims of the shot glasses with Nutella.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
You will need:
- 10 ml of Blue Curacao (a blue liqueur which tastes like Oranges)
- 10 ml of Strawberry Liqueur
- 10 ml of Mango Schnapps
You will need to: Layer the ingredients into a shot glass in the order that they are listed above, and shot. Singing about a flying car is optional but recommended.
