Students think wine counts towards 5-a-day

To celebrate the launch of our free Cheap Eats Cook Book we asked students about their eating habits... the results were eye opening to say the least.

When we’ve had a tough day at work - making giant creme eggs or writing about cats with bread on their heads (it really is tough, you know) - we like nothing more than kicking back with a nice glass of wine.

According to our research, 13% of university students are of the opinion that this glass of wine might count towards our recommended 5-a-day...

Yeah. Frightening, isn’t it?

Another worrying fact, perhaps for different reasons, is that only 8% of students we asked told us they eat their five portions of fruit or veg during term-time at uni.

And next time you’re asked around to your friend’s house for dinner, make sure that they’re not one of the 18% of students who are unsure whether you have to defrost a chicken before cooking it!

We compiled this list of interesting/terrifying facts about the eating habits of students to celebrate the launch of our much anticipated FREE Cheap Eats Cook Book.

The guide to cooking at university features student classics, new favourites, supermarket saving secrets and cooking cupboard essentials.

It’s consistently tasty. Painfully easy. Unnervingly awesome. And we’re just giving it away, for free, ‘cause that’s what we do.
