Halloween make up: Bloody wounds

Make-up artist Amy Brandon tells us how we can create realistically disgusting cuts and bruises for that Halloween night out...

Don’t bother shelling out for any of that special FX make up or covering up your pretty faces with a mask this Halloween! Make-up artist Amy Brandon tells us how we can create our very own grim Halloween effects using simple make-up tools, starting off with bloody cuts and bruises..

‘It’s really easy to do your own cuts and bruises on Halloween,' Amy told us. 'All you really need is the contents of your make-up bag and you can get as creative as you want!’

Here goes...

How to create cuts and bruises

What you’ll need

  • Lash glue

  • Foundation/concealer

  • Red lipstick

  • Purple and yellow eyeshadows. You can also use pink, plum or red toned blush.

  • Lip gloss.

Method

  • Step 1 - Apply purple based eyeshadows on the area you want to look bruised.

  • Step 2 - Take some lash glue and apply a good amount of glue where you want the cut/gash to be. Wait a few seconds for the glue to go tacky.

  • Step 3 - Take a cocktail stick or anything thin and drag through the middle of the glue to create the gash. Wait for glue to dry.

  • Step 4 - Dab foundation or concealer on to the dried glue so it matches the skin.

  • Step 5 - Carefully colour the deepest part of the cut with the red lipstick.

  • Step 6 - Fill with gloss, for a sticky, bloody effect!
