The Festival Kit from Totally4Gigs sounds too good to be true. It claims to offer all the essentials you’d need for a festival, neatly packed in one case.

Sceptical as ever, we decided to test one out and actually, were rather impressed with what we saw.

The Deluxe Festival Kit comes in a men’s or women’s version (the key difference being the pink and black shells of the carry case; no prizes for guessing which is which) and they both feature the same products:

1 case (to hold everything)

1 carabiner (those useful clips)

1 large cotton bag (for dirty washing)

1 rain poncho (the ULTIMATE essential)

1 shampoo 30ml (do we need this?)

1 body wash 30ml (definitely need this)

1 mouthwash 30ml (nice touch)

1 toothbrush (no one likes beer breath)

1 toothpaste 7ml (see above)

1 earplugs (in case you want to sleep)

1 deodorant 35ml (because you will smell)

2 Mates SKYN condoms (safety first)

1 comb (unless you want dreads)

1 hand sanitizer 15ml (think of the portaloos)

1 LED torch (to locate your tent)

OK, so it doesn’t have everything you might want to take with you but the Totally4Gigs Festival Kit does a pretty good job at nailing the necessities. If we were being fussy we’d swap the shampoo for some of that handy dry stuff (does anyone shower at festivals?) but other than that, we think you get a good deal for nearly £17.

All of the items are pocket-sized, saving loads of space and they all squeeze tidily behind a Velcro strap and an elasticated pocket in the durable carry case.

When you run out of all your essentials, you can easily reuse the zip-up holdall. Whether it’s to use as a toiletry travel case, to store makeup or to protect valuables while you’re at the campsite, it’s a handy little thing to have around, and even has an attachment on the outside to link your carabiner to the outside of your backpack, your keys, or the teeny little LED torch, supplied in the kit.

But it’s the value for money that makes the Deluxe Festival Kit a real winner. We roughly calculated the average you might spend on the essentials provided, should you buy them individually, and the total came to over £30. Sure, you might be getting a small plastic LED instead of your Duracell Bunny powered torch and you might get through that body wash after 5 uses but what more do you really need for a festival?

If you can’t be arsed to pack any of the boring stuff now and want to wait until you get there to buy that poncho, don’t. Festivals have a captive audience so you’ll probably end up paying through the nose for it. Although having said that ladies, we understand if you don’t want to go around looking like a giant bottle of Pepto-Bismol. The ladies rain poncho is unavoidably pink.

For all you measuring fans, here are the dimensions of the carry case, so you’ll know exactly how much space you have for extra lager. Sorted.

Size: L18cm - W12CM - D6.5cm
