Fujifilm Finepix Z90 Digital Camera
Looking for a new digital camera? We give you the lowdown on the new offering from Fujifilm...
Size and Appearance
If you’re looking for a stylish camera, then the Z90 will be right up your street. Available in six colours (red, blue, pink, purple, black and silver), the device has a sleek finish and features a sliding front for switching it on and off - a simple solution that makes a surprisingly positive difference when it comes to useability.
In terms of size and weight, the Z90 is fairly standard (we measured it against our old Olympus camera and they’re exactly the same).
Features
Rather than a whole load of buttons, the Z90 features a 3-inch wide LCD touchscreen which is usually - but not always - responsive to the touch (there were sometimes problems when browsing through photos).
The camera takes both photos and HD video, and includes video-editing functions. In terms of pics, you can get good close-ups as well as panoramic shots (one of our favourite modes!).
A key feature by which the Z90 differentiates itself is social media tool, which allows you to pre-select the photos and videos you want to upload to Facebook or YouTube. Once you plug the device into your computer and access the MyFinePix Studio software (provided) these selections will be automatically transferred to the chosen website without you having to do anything manually - a great time saver for people who love creating Facebook albums!
Ease of Use
The ease of using the Z90 really depends on what you want to do with it. In terms of taking your general, bog-standard picture the Scene Recognition Auto mode is a godsend, automatically choosing the most appropriate scene type from six different options. Switching between video and photo mode is also very simple - you just have to press a button on the top of the camera.
Other settings may take a few minutes with the instruction manual (provided in CD format) to work out, but generally the touchscreen and large icons make everything very easy to navigate.
