Top ten YouTube cover songs

Inspired by the wonderful Newport version of Empire (State of Mind), we've rounded up our favourite YouTube cover songs - enjoy.

32 songs in 8 minutes - Freddie 25

Pretty much does what it says on the tin. Favourite moments include Dragostea din tei, a section of the 'Leave Britney alone' defence video and the theme tunes from Pokemon and Power Rangers.

Crank That (Soulja Boy) - JawKneeYeah

It was one of the best-selling songs of the noughties (and who didn't try out the dance at least once?), but did you ever realise that Crank That had a lyric about 'bathing apes'? We didn't until we saw this...

Hey Jude (The Beatles) - Random Asian kid

This child clearly has a successful music career ahead of him, especially as evidenced at 1.22 where he really starts to let rip. Altogether now "Remember to rerra into your heart, then you can start, to make things BERRA".

Hot 'n' Cold (Katy Perry) - Ukranian Polka Band

This is probably what Katy Perry's hit would sound like if sung by Count Dracula. Makes us feel like we should be drinking vodka shots and doing some Russian dancing... but people in the office might think we're weird.

Irreplaceable (Beyonce) - 'Applegirl'

Who knew you could create a whole instrumental accompaniment using only iPhone apps? Bear with this one - once she's set it all up she turns out to be surprisingly good!

If U Seek Amy (Britney Spears) - Mishka-Papishka

The looks, the voice, the moves...Mishka-Papishka has well and truly got it all. Britney Spears had better watch out.

Stairway to Heaven (Led Zeppelin) - Chinese version

In contrast to classical Rihanna, a Chinese version of Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven is something we simply can't accept. Particularly sung by a man who look like he belongs in Alice in Wonderland.

Rude Boy (Rihanna) - Aston

A classical version of Rihanna's Rude Boy really shouldn't work, but somehow this group manage to pull it off. In fact, it kinda makes us wish we hadn't given up the violin at grade 2.

Wuthering Heights (Kate Bush) - Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain

We were very happy to discover that the UK has it's very own ukulele orchestra, and even more delighted when we found their cover of crazy 70's lady Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights.

Micheal Jackson Medley - Sam Tsui & Kurt Schneider

High School Musical eat you heart out. College student Sam Tsui has become an internet sensation with his YouTube covers and medleys, even appearing on The Oprah Winfrey Show to perform this Michael Jackson extravaganza. Although we don't know how he sang all six parts at once...
