Double-Digit Seeds Could Be Profitable On Thursday

It’s a busy time of year for those making college basketball picks at BetUs – and everywhere else – as the NCAA Tournament starts on Tuesday (we’re not counting this “First Four” nonsense), and it’s always fun to see which low seeds could come away with the win. Here are three games in which this could be the case.

Michigan State vs. UCLA

The Spartans may be the most dangerous 10-seed in the history of the Tournament, and the core of this team has been to two straight Final Fours, including a loss in the 2009 title game to a North Carolina juggernaut, so they’re battle-tested. Also, we’re not going to pick against Tom Izzo, not in a first-round  game against a team that is similar to the Spartans, but not as talented.

Gonzaga vs. St. John’s

The 11th-seeded Bulldogs made being a low seed look good, but they’ve struggled since they moved up the NCAA ranks. Now they’re back in their comfortable spot of being an underdog, and that doesn’t bode well for the Red Storm, who have a lot of seniors, but they haven’t been to the Tournament before and also, this game will be played in Denver, so expect the Zags to have the edge in crowd support.

Missouri vs. Cincinnati

Another Big East team could fall if the Bearcats can’t slow down the Tigers, who love to get up and down the floor at a breakneck speed. Mizzou will try to get this game in the 80-90 point range, and they can score the basketball from inside and out. Cincinnati doesn’t have the offense to hang with the Tigers so they’ll be aiming to slow this game down, but we’ve seen the Mizzou style cause problems in the Tournament before, like last year’s run to the Elite Eight.
