All Nighter v Beauty Sleep
Students should be cutting back on the all nighters and getting their beauty sleep in a bid to up their grades, according to a study.
Students who have a good night’s sleep are more likely to perform better in exams than those who cram all night, a Washington University study of 102 students has shown.
But sleeping on your mate’s floor, in the back of a car or on holey mattresses are not going to ensure the rest you really need. Think about your grades, your health and your future and get a good bed and mattress for a good night’s sleep. It doesn’t have to cost a fortune.
There are some great deals out there. Bed World currently has a whole range of beds that come with good quality mattresses. You could try looking at day beds – that way you have a sofa and a bed in one! Faux leather sofa beds are also very stylish and practical options if you are short of space. Or, perhaps a futon, for as little as £169, would look good in your student digs and provide you with a comfy bed.
Guest beds are single beds that have another bed that can be wheeled out from underneath and used to make your bed into a double or stand alone as another single bed – good if you often have your mates or your girlfriend round. You can get up to 15% off if you buy a frame and a mattress from bedworld.
If you are a bit more particular with what you like to sleep on, you could choose one the latest memory foam mattresses. They help to support people who have bad backs or other joint problems as they reduce pressure points. You can get one for as little as £99 with a free memory foam pillow worth £50.
There are all sorts of bed frames to choose from, so if you want to match your bed to your room, then you can choose from metal, wooden, faux leather and fabric frames. You can get single wooden bed frames for as little as £79 and double wooden frames from £119.
If budgets are really tight, metal framed single beds are as cheap as £59 and doubles start at £69 in the sale.
Faux leather beds and fabric beds start to push up the cost, but you can get a faux leather for £199 and there are more than 100 to choose from. You can get fabric frames for as little as £149, so going for something a bit more stylish does not have to break the bank.
