A mobile that makes waves in the smartphone marketf

Many of us are looking for the perfect smartphone right now. A mobile that can do everything we want it to and more! You always hear whispers about which smartphone is the best and your friends are never afraid to give their opinion on which phone you should get - usually boasting the credentials of their own. The only way to pick the right smartphone for you though is to have a closer look at the features it has and whether it ticks all of the boxes as far as you’re concerned.

Take the Samsung Wave for instance. This stylish smartphone will blow you away with just how small the device is, yet it packs as much of a punch as its larger competitors. The phone is incredibly slim at less than 11mm thick, yet the build quality is clear to see and is something you’ll become made aware of as soon as you have it in your hand. Despite its small stature, the Wave still boasts a 3.3 in Super AMOLED (Active-Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode) screen, giving you an amazing viewing experience.

The size of the screen is complimented by its quality. The vivid display of the screen matches up well against any smartphone and to some extent its luminescence is unrivalled. With a wider viewing angle and no motion blur, you can watch your favourite videos on the move, and the longer battery life of the phone means your film won’t be cut short just when you reach the best bit.

The Wave certainly doesn’t disappoint as one of a number of smart phones that are currently on the market. Also known as the Samsung S8500, the Wave is an entry level smartphone but certainly performs admirably and is way ahead of many similar devices. It was in fact the world’s first Super AMOLED mobile phone and led the way in that respect, resulting in many smartphones following its lead.

So the Samsung Wave certainly stands out from the crowd in terms of its visual prowess, but what features can you utilise to show the phone’s display in all its beauty? There are a number of Samsung apps you can get your hands on to perform a whole number of tasks on the move and with new applications and widgets being added all the time, the Wave is becoming ever more functional.

Something that we have come to expect from smartphones is smooth Internet browsing, and this is a feature the S8500 can boast. The Dolphin web browser has flash video compatibility, so you can visit all of your favourite sites and see them in all their glory. Whether you want to check the latest football scores or have a look at some movie reviews, this and much more can be done in an instant. When you add in the fact that you can zoom quickly and efficiently with the phone’s multi-touch feature, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better mobile Internet experience.

One thing more and more of us are using the Internet for is social networking. The Wave itself has a social hub, allowing you to keep up to date with activities and catch up with your friends in one place. You can access your Facebook and Twitter accounts, both of which are integrated to make social networking even easier. One fantastic result of the integration of your various social accounts is that you can easily manage your schedule in one place so that you don’t miss out on an upcoming house-warming party.

An intuitive feature of the Samsung Wave is that your most frequently-used applications will be brought to the top of your list of apps. This innovative menu system makes accessing your favourite app even easier as you won’t even have to scroll through all of the apps your smartphone has. So if you’re always using the phone’s social hub, then this will be brought to the top of the pile and a couple of simple touches of your screen will allow you to access it.

Something we all love checking on our social network accounts is photos from the night before, and you can take great snaps with the Wave. The device has a five megapixel camera on the back that’s accompanied by a LED flash. That’s not all though, as you can even play and record HD footage, making the Wave a real multimedia heavyweight.

The Wave isn’t the only smartphone that Samsung has brought to the UK market. You can also get your hands on the Samsung Galaxy S, which is possibly even that little bit more special. The Galaxy S, or i9000, has an even bigger screen that measures in at four inches, so watching video really is a dream. Like the Wave, the Galaxy S has a 1GHz processor that makes using multiple applications simultaneously a breeze, and the response of the phone is generally much quicker.

As well as having a bigger screen, the Galaxy S is also on the larger side when compared to the Samsung Wave. The Wave is far from clunky though and will still sit nicely in your hand when you’re browsing through your apps or making a call. There’s nothing worse than being in the middle of a call and being cut off because you’ve lost reception, but this is a truly rare occurrence on both of these devices. The internal antenna ensures that reception is optimised and you won’t have to start a conversation with the phrase "where were we?".

When you first catch a glimpse of the Samsung Wave you’ll be hit by the sleek design and vivid screen display. When you delve more into the smartphone you’ll be greeted with a whole host of applications and features that makes using the device an enjoyable experience. You won’t have to break the bank to get your hands on a Samsung S8500 either. As an entry level smartphone, it more than fits the bill.
