Ways to stress less
Leaving work until the last minute when you have your housemates' birthday the night before a big deadline is a clear example of a student stress attack.
Most people think that student life is extremely relaxing. Waking up late and just hanging out with friends.
However, when work and exams start to pile up, it is quite the opposite. It can sometimes be worse than a full time job.
You have to attend lectures as well as having an obscene of work.
No, you do not get to relax on the weekend either as you have essays after essay, after reports to finish.
So, yes student life can be extremely stressful. Danielle, a student at Leeds, feels like she lives a working life, “There are times when I just feel I have too much on at once and I ask myself: will life be like this when I actually have a full time job?”
During these tough times, what can be done to relieve all of this stress?
One way to relieve stress is to maybe take a few hours out of your week to exercise.
Regular exercise benefits every part of your body and even your mind so it is the perfect way to distress.

Or an intense run can let everything out of your system.
It is so easy and cheap to join a gym. Just pop along to your university gym and you will be able to fit it into your university schedule too.
You do not have to go a lot, just whenever you are feeling like you cannot cope with the work load.

“I used to eat all the wrong food when I was stressed out with work. Chips, Chocolate, Cake, pizza. Now I keep to a healthy diet with lots of protein, fruit and veg. It helps me to concentrate as well as looking healthier.”
You must always make sure you get enough sleep when you are stressed out as sleep is an essential way to keep your body relaxed.
There is nothing worse than feeling stressed and extremely tired.
So ensuring that you go to bed at a reasonable time and get the recommended eight hours of sleep a night could help you to feel less under pressure.

“I like to meet some friends for a coffee or go to the cinema to take my mind off work for a bit.”
It is important to still keep in contact with your friends and go out and have some fun so your mind is clear when you start your essay or revision again.
All in all, we are all bound to feel the pressure of university work.
But, we have to make sure that we still have fun at the same time.
When we enter the real working world we will have less time to enjoy ourselves so make sure you eat well, keep fit and healthy as well as seeing your friends on a regular basis.
