MoonRunners

University of Sunderland

Formed in 2009, MoonRunners are a female led North East of England based [indie]-[rock]-[alt]-[punk]-[pop] band. They are all university students studying music in various degrees. They've recently supported the likes of Shaun Ryder, Canadian rockers The Trews, London indie band Bleech, London puink band The Duel and will be opening for McFly at Newcastle Academy O2 on April 14th. MoonRunners are signed to Satellite Records based in Teesside, UK. Their debut single "Mirrors" will be released in the coming weeks with exclusive artwork created by Charlie Adlard - the illustrator for the award winning comic and now internationally successful TV show "The Walking Dead". Further releases and a re-launch of MoonRunners YouTube channel throughout 2012 will also see MoonRunners appearing on a new Sky TV Music Channel to be shown across Europe. The band have recently finished recording the song "The Fallen" which will be featured on the soundtrack of an Indo-British supernatural movie called Amy's Ghost due for release May 4th 2012 and are currently recording another track called "The Puppet Master" to be featured on the soundtrack of a Canadian teen horror/slasher movie called Consequences due for release Friday 13th July 2012. MoonRunners are also in discussion to use another of their songs for another independent movie that is to be filmed in Texas come August. With their music having an edgy appeal and having already had tracks assigned to movies, the band are being lined to for substantial airplay across India, BBC introducing airplay and having been number one in the Strummerville download charts, MoonRunners are the band to vote for, the band to win and the band to play on stage at Beach Break Live. MoonRunners style has been compared to that of Paramore with lead singer Jordan having been likened to Hayley Williams style of voice. Others have commented on her singing style resembling 80?s artist Hazel O’Connor, others Debbie Harry, others Chrissie Hynde, and yet others state her voice resembles that of Siouxsie Sioux from Siouxsie and the Banshees, some PJ Harvey, some even Morrissey of The Smiths. It’s this mix of styles that has spawned the band's genre of being an [indie]-[rock]-[alt]-[punk]-[pop] band. So who do MoonRunners sound like? Well MoonRunners sounds like MoonRunners! MoonRunners are: Jordan (Sunderland University), vocals Nathan (Sunderland University, Shiney Row Campus), guitar and backing vocals Owen (Sunderland University, Shiney Row Campus), bass Michael (Sunderland University, Shiney Row Campus), drums www.moonrunners.co.uk www.facebook.com/moonrunnersmusic
